What Is Herbalife Protein Bake Mix? Ingredients, Nutrition & How to Use It
By Dogus Dilan, Herbalife Independent Wellness Coach · Last updated 11 August 2026 · 6 min read
Protein Bake Mix is designed to sit alongside your baking — not replace it — as a way to lift the protein and fibre content of a pancake, waffle or bake without changing the neutral flavour of the finished result. It’s a genuinely simple product: one ingredient blend, one official recipe (a pancake), and a nutrition panel you can check against what’s on the tin.
This guide covers exactly what’s in it, what the numbers on the label mean, who it’s and isn’t suitable for, and where to find more Protein Bake Mix pancake recipes.
What’s Actually In It
Protein Bake Mix uses six listed ingredients, taken directly from the official product label:
- Whey protein concentrate (milk) — the primary protein source
- Gluten-free whole oat flour — a wholegrain carbohydrate base
- Whole egg powder — adds protein and acts as a binder
- Calcium caseinate (milk) — a second milk-derived protein
- Baking powder (raising agents: potassium hydrogen carbonate, disodium diphosphate; rice flour)
- Gluten-free wheat dextrin — a soluble fibre source, gluten-free by processing
There are no added sugars, artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners in the formulation — both milk-derived proteins are why this is suitable for vegetarians but not vegans, unlike most of Herbalife’s plant-based shake range.

What the Numbers Actually Mean
At 44g protein per 100g, protein supplies roughly 47% of the product’s total energy — comfortably above the 20% threshold the EU sets for a food to be labelled “high in protein”. Foods that meet this bar can carry the claim that protein contributes to a growth in, and the maintenance of, muscle mass — an EFSA-authorised claim under Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 (entry 1398).
At 7g fibre per 100g, it also clears the NHS’s 6g-per-100g bar for a “high fibre” food. That said, a single 24g serving only contributes 1.7g of fibre — a small but genuine addition toward the NHS’s 30g-a-day adult target, not a fibre-loaded product in its own right.
How to Use It
The official instruction on the label is for a pancake: preheat a non-stick pan on low heat. Mix 24g (3 tablespoons) of Protein Bake Mix with 30ml (2 tablespoons) of semi-skimmed milk (1.5% fat) or 30ml (2 tablespoons) of water. Pour the batter into the centre of the pan and spread to your desired thickness. Cook on low heat for 2–3 minutes until the underside is golden, then flip and repeat on the second side.
Because it has a neutral flavour and no added sugar, it also works well folded into other home bakes — waffles, muffins, savoury flatbreads — though these aren’t official Herbalife recipes, just common ways people use the mix. Who It’s Suitable For
- Vegetarians: yes — no meat or fish-derived ingredients
- Vegans: no — contains milk and egg
- Gluten-free diets: yes — formulated to meet the UK/EU gluten-free standard (below 20ppm), using gluten-free oat flour and gluten-free wheat dextrin
- Milk or egg allergy/intolerance: not suitable — both allergens are present as core ingredients, not traces
If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or managing a medical condition, check with a healthcare professional before adding any new food supplement to your diet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Herbalife Protein Bake Mix vegan?
No. It contains whey protein concentrate, calcium caseinate (both milk-derived) and whole egg powder, so it isn’t suitable for a vegan diet.
Is it gluten-free?
Yes. It uses gluten-free whole oat flour and gluten-free wheat dextrin, and is formulated to meet the UK/EU gluten-free standard of below 20ppm gluten.
How many servings are in one tin?
Each 480g tin contains approximately 20 servings of 24g (3 tablespoons) each.
Can I make it with water instead of milk?
Yes — the label gives instructions for both. Using water instead of semi-skimmed milk lowers the energy, fat and protein per serving slightly (89kcal and 11g protein with water, versus 104kcal and 12g protein with milk).
Does it contain added sugar?
No. There is no added sugar in the formulation — the small amount of sugar shown on the label (2.6g per 100g) occurs naturally in the oat and dairy ingredients.
How much protein is in one pancake?
A single prepared pancake (about 48g, made with 24g of powder) provides 12g of protein made with semi-skimmed milk, or 11g made with water.
Where can I find recipes using Protein Bake Mix?
See our Protein Bake Mix pancake recipes guide for recipes built around this product and Formula 1.
