Herbalife Formula 1 Flavours: All Nine Compared and Which to Choose (UK)
There are nine Herbalife Formula 1 flavours available in the UK: Vanilla Cream, Smooth Chocolate, Cookie Crunch, Café Latte, Banana Cream, Strawberry Delight, Mint & Chocolate, Raspberry & White Chocolate and Dubai Style Chocolate. Every flavour costs £27.90, but they do not all cost the same per shake — seven come in a 550 g canister giving 21 servings at £1.33, while two come in a 500 g canister giving 19 servings at £1.47. Vanilla Cream is also the only flavour sold in a 780 g canister, which brings the cost down to £1.23 a shake. This page compares all nine, explains the size difference that the shelf price hides, and sets out which flavour to start with depending on how you drink it. Nine flavours, one price, two canister sizes
Choosing a Formula 1 flavour looks like a question of taste, and mostly it is. But there is one thing on the shelf that taste will not tell you, and it affects what every shake costs you.
All nine flavours carry the same £27.90 price. Seven of them hold 550 g of powder. Two of them hold 500 g. Same money, 50 g less — which is roughly two shakes.
That is the part worth knowing before you pick. The rest of this page covers the flavours themselves, which ones suit milk and which suit water, and where to start if this is your first canister.

All nine flavours compared
Every Formula 1 flavour is the same formula underneath: 26 g of powder made up with 250 ml of semi-skimmed milk gives 227 kcal, 18 g of protein and 25 vitamins and minerals. What changes between them is the flavour and, in two cases, the size of the canister.

The flavours by taste family
Nine names is more than most people want to read through, so it helps to group them. Four families cover the range.
Chocolate — three options
Smooth Chocolate is the straightforward one and the natural choice if chocolate is what you want. Mint & Chocolate adds mint to the same base, which some people find refreshing in the morning and others find too close to toothpaste — it is the most divisive flavour in the range for that reason. Dubai Style Chocolate is the newest addition, inspired by the Dubai-style chocolate that has been everywhere in the past two years, and it is one of the two 500 g canisters.
Fruit — three options
Strawberry Delight and Banana Cream are the two classic fruit flavours and both are long-standing parts of the range. Raspberry & White Chocolate sits between the fruit and chocolate families and is the second 500 g canister.
Sweet and neutral — two options
Vanilla Cream is the least assertive flavour in the range, which is exactly why it is the most useful one. It takes additions without clashing — fruit, coffee, cinnamon, a spoon of Protein Drink Mix — and it is the only flavour available in the larger 780 g canister. Cookie Crunch is the dessert end of the range and the one that feels least like a diet drink.
Coffee — one option
Café Latte is the only coffee flavour and the one that most obviously replaces something. If your current breakfast is a coffee on the way to work, this is the flavour that slots into that habit rather than fighting it.
The canister size that changes the cost
Two flavours give you 19 shakes, not 21
Dubai Style Chocolate and Raspberry & White Chocolate come in a 500 g canister rather than 550 g, while carrying the same £27.90 price as every other flavour. At the standard 26 g measure that is 19 shakes instead of 21, so each one costs £1.47 rather than £1.33 — about 11% more.
Nothing on the shelf price tells you this, and it is not a markup: it is simply the size Herbalife packs those two flavours in. If you drink Formula 1 daily, it is worth factoring in. If you are buying one of them as an occasional change, it will not matter much.
The same arithmetic works in your favour at the other end of the range. The 780 g Vanilla Cream canister holds 30 shakes for £36.90, which is £1.23 each — 7.5% less than the 550 g canisters and about £3.00 saved over the life of the tub.
The catch is that 780 g is only made in Vanilla Cream. If vanilla is the flavour you are happy drinking every morning, it is the cheapest shake in the range. If it is not, the £3 is not worth forcing yourself through a canister you do not enjoy — a tub you abandon half-finished costs far more than 10p a shake.

View ProductWhich flavour to start with
There is no single best flavour, and anyone who tells you otherwise is describing their own breakfast. What there is, is a sensible default and a few clear cases where something else fits better.
If you do not know where to start: Vanilla Cream
Three practical reasons, none of them about taste. It is the neutral base, so if you get bored you can change it with a handful of frozen berries or a spoon of cocoa rather than buying a new canister. It is the only flavour in the 780 g size, so if you stay with it you can drop to £1.23 a shake. And it is available as a seven-sachet pack, so you can try it for £12.50 before committing to a full tub.
If you want it to feel like a treat: Cookie Crunch or Smooth Chocolate
The most common reason people stop is not taste, it is monotony — a shake that feels like a chore gets skipped. If you suspect that will be you, start at the dessert end of the range rather than the sensible end.
If you are replacing a morning coffee: Café Latte
Habits are easier to swap than to break. If your breakfast is currently a coffee, the coffee-flavoured shake fits into the same slot in your morning.
If you mix with water rather than milk: the fruit flavours
Chocolate and vanilla both rely on the creaminess milk brings and taste noticeably thinner made with water. Strawberry Delight and Banana Cream hold up better. See the next section for what changes nutritionally when you make that swap.

21 shakes at £1.33. The neutral base that takes additions well.
View ProductMilk, water or a plant drink?
This matters more than the flavour choice, because it changes what the shake actually is.
The nutrition figures on the label — 227 kcal and 18 g of protein — are for 26 g of powder made up with 250 ml of semi-skimmed milk. A large part of that protein comes from the milk, not the powder. Made with water, the shake is lower in calories but also lower in protein and calcium, and it is a different drink from the one the label describes.
Formula 1 is gluten-free and made with vegan-sourced ingredients, so it can be mixed with a fortified soy beverage instead of dairy milk. A fortified soy drink is the closest plant alternative in protein terms; most other plant drinks contribute considerably less.
The authorised claim for this product is specific about how it is used: substituting two of the main daily meals of an energy-restricted diet with meal replacements contributes to weight loss, and substituting one of the main daily meals of an energy-restricted diet with a meal replacement contributes to the maintenance of weight after weight loss.
Both of those assume the shake is prepared as the label describes and replaces a meal rather than being added alongside one.
If you want extra protein without extra milk, Protein Drink Mix adds 15 g for 108 kcal and blends into any flavour; there is also a vegan version. The Formula 1 and Protein Drink Mix guide covers how the two work together.
Trying a flavour before a full canister
Three flavours come as a pack of seven single-serve sachets for £12.50 — Vanilla Cream, Smooth Chocolate and Cookie Crunch. That works out at £1.79 a shake, which is 35% more than the same shake from a canister, so they are an expensive way to drink Formula 1 every day.
As a way to find out whether you can live with a flavour before spending £27.90 on 21 servings of it, though, they are the cheapest route there is. They are also the practical option for travel, where a 550 g canister is not going in your bag.

How many Herbalife Formula 1 flavours are there in the UK?
Nine: Vanilla Cream, Smooth Chocolate, Cookie Crunch, Café Latte, Banana Cream, Strawberry Delight, Mint & Chocolate, Raspberry & White Chocolate and Dubai Style Chocolate. Vanilla Cream is additionally available in a larger 780 g canister, and three flavours also come as seven-sachet packs.
Which Herbalife Formula 1 flavour is best?
There is no single best one — they are the same formula with different flavourings, so it comes down to what you will actually drink every morning. Vanilla Cream is the most sensible default because it is neutral enough to vary with additions, it is the only flavour in the cheaper 780 g size, and it can be tried in a seven-sachet pack first.
Which Formula 1 flavour is cheapest per shake?
Vanilla Cream in the 780 g canister, at £1.23 a shake. The 550 g canisters work out at £1.33 and the two 500 g flavours — Dubai Style Chocolate and Raspberry & White Chocolate — at £1.47.
Why do some flavours come in a 500 g canister?
Dubai Style Chocolate and Raspberry & White Chocolate are packed in 500 g rather than 550 g. The price is the same £27.90, so the smaller canister gives 19 shakes instead of 21 and costs about 11% more per shake. The formula itself is unchanged.
Can I mix Herbalife Formula 1 with water instead of milk?
Yes, but the label’s nutrition figures of 227 kcal and 18 g of protein are based on 250 ml of semi-skimmed milk, and a large part of that protein comes from the milk. Made with water the shake is lower in calories but also lower in protein and calcium. Formula 1 is made with vegan-sourced ingredients and can be mixed with a fortified soy beverage, which is the closest plant alternative in protein terms.
Are all Formula 1 flavours the same price?
Yes, every flavour is £27.90 for a canister. What differs is how much powder is in it: seven flavours hold 550 g and two hold 500 g, which is why the cost per shake is not the same across the range.
Can I try a flavour before buying a full canister?
Three flavours come as a pack of seven single-serve sachets for £12.50 — Vanilla Cream, Smooth Chocolate and Cookie Crunch. That is £1.79 a shake against £1.33 from a canister, so it is not an economical way to drink it daily, but it is the cheapest way to find out whether you like a flavour.
Can I mix two Formula 1 flavours together?
Yes. They are the same formula with different flavourings, so combining them changes nothing nutritionally. Vanilla Cream is the usual base for this because it is neutral enough not to clash with whatever you add to it.
Is Herbalife Formula 1 gluten-free?
Formula 1 is gluten-free and made with vegan-sourced ingredients. If you are avoiding specific ingredients, check the label of the individual flavour you are buying, since flavourings differ between them. The gluten, dairy and soy guide covers the range in detail.
